John Randolph Board of Trustees Welcomes New Administrators

John Randolph Medical Center's Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of three administrators to the John Randolph team.

Elwood Bernard Boone III, CHE, has been selected to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Boone, orginially from Richmond, has served as CEO of HCA Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire since March 2002. Prior to his position at Parkland, Boone spent six years at CJW Medical Center in Richmond in key administrative roles including Chief Operating Officer.

Boone, a 1992 graduate from Morehouse College in Atlanta, received his Masters in Health Services Administration in 1995 from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He also served a one-year Administrative Fellowship at The George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. A diplomate with the American College of Healthcare Executives, Boone is active in professional organizations including the National Association of Health Services Executives.

Dia Nichols has been selected to fill the role of Chief Operating Oficer (COO). Nichols' previous assignment was as Assistant Vice President/Associate Administrator at HCA's West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, where he served since June 2001. He holds a Master of Health Administration from Indiana University in Indianapolis and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University.

Chigger J. Bynum, who has 18 years of broad-based financial experience, has been hired as the medical center's Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Bynum previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Bynum is a certified public accountant and received her Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Accounting and Economics from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.

"I am very excited about joining the staff of John Randolph Medical Center," said Boone. "I have been most impressed with the passion and commitment exhibited by the medical center's employees, and feel honored to be part of this medical community. I am confident that we will continue to build upon the John Randolph legacy, as well as, a culture that facilitates the provision of quality healthcare and nurtures a supportive working environment for all staff." As the son of a physician, Boone said that he learned early in his development about service to others and has a great deal of respect for the work of all healthcare providers.

They join Patsy Coghill, Chief Nursing Officer for the medical center (CNO). Coghill has been employed by the medical center for over 30 years.
